An Italian member of the European Parliament has called on European Union governments to open their secret UFO files, saying the public needs to be made aware of alien encounters.
Mario Borghezio told the Associated Press on Tuesday that the EU must establish its own "X Files" archive, where citizens can access data on UFOs collected by member governments and militaries.
The EU should stop the "systematic cover-up,” of this data, he said.
Disclosing such files is not without precedent. Indeed, last year the United Kingdom published 4,000 pages online that described 800 alleged encounters with aliens during the 1980s and 1990s. And the British defense ministry has been steadily releasing previously classified UFO documents over the last three years in the face of several Freedom of Information requests. (Read more)
