Muslim Scholars Should Focus On Spreading Islamic Thinking - To Challenge Free Thinking and Individual Freedoms

He said free thinking and individual freedom spread by Western theories would make Muslim society lose direction and objective in life.

Free thinking ~ is why we sit on the internet. It was severe restrictions on free thinking and individual freedoms that stifled ingenuity in the Islamic world. Anyone can become a Muslim but once you live under these restrictions then life experience is on lockdown. Every idea must be passed through ~ for inspection ~ by the Islamic cleric ~ and what a disaster that has been ~ as it is only oil that now boosts Islam's fortunes. Invention is almost nil.

Above is a fantastic picture of a fly drinking from a drop of water ~ in Bulgaria. But there was a man who lived in the Middle East, centuries ago, and was one of the foremost leaders in optics. His work is still respected in Europe/the west. But when the clerics of the time saw what he was doing ~ they grabbed his invention ~ his slithers of glass ~ and threw them into the sand ~ calling it Atheist or Greek. This is the sad story of Muslim world's inventions. As in Europe there was no enlightenment. No free thinking. And no establishment of individual freedoms ~ which would have allowed this man to work and see his vision through. And this is still the Muslim delusion ~ that everything is contained in the Koran.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Muslim scholars have been urged to focus on spreading Islamic thinking for the good of mankind and the world, said former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said new methods and approaches were needed to challenge Western ideas and theories that controlled and influenced world thinking.

"Western theories and conventional approach have at times, failed to provide the best solution," he said after being conferred honorary Phd in Economy & Muamalat Administration by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) on Friday.

The Phd was conferred by USIM Chancellor Tuanku Najihah Tunku Besar Burhanuddin at a special convocation at Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Dr Mahathir said the world is facing a moral, social, political and economic crisis because it is bound and restricted by Western ideas and theories.

"Now we realise that what was inherited and taught by our religion is unsuitable and outdated," he said.

Muslims also felt inferior when facing theories of Western thinkers, most of whom did not base them on religion.

"They created theories and ideas that were accepted without question by Muslims," said Dr Mahathir.

He said free thinking and individual freedom spread by Western theories would make Muslim society lose direction and objective in life.

As such, Muslim scholars should come up with alternative thinking and solutions to world crisis.

Muslims should get out of the world culture of rhetoric to find a more meaningful and practical approach to solutions.
