GIVE BACK AMERICA

Forget the Tea Party – Give Back America!

October 2, 2010 by James Hipps (FROM: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Give-Back-America/158413457502535?ref=ts)

Since the tea-party first reared it’s ugly head after the election of President Obama, it became evident in a relatively short period of time that the chants about how they want to “take back America” were not a gay or Black friendly voice echoing freedom, liberty and justice for all, but rather how the White population is scared to death they’re somehow losing their ‘white privilege’ and I’ll go as far to say as how the ‘Christian’ population is afraid they’re losing their ‘Christian privilege’ that’s been cemented into our culture since the days of Ronald Regan’s presidency.

But many of the tea-baggers claim that’s not true. They say their movement is about less taxation, less government and less governmental spending. But is that really ‘taking back America’? I mean let’s think about this for a minute. The U.S. has one of the lowest tax rates of any nation in the world, yet boasts one of the best infrastructures. We supposedly have some of the best medical care available, yet we’re the only industrialized nation that allows our citizens to go bankrupt or lose their home when they become seriously ill. We’re supposed to be the land of opportunity, yet we have over 30 million homeless youth living in the the U.S. today.

So is the tea party really about taking back America? If yes, who are they taking it back from?

I think it’s perfectly clear where the members of the tea party stand on issues such as LGBT equality and Civil Rights. They believe both threaten the very freedoms and liberties that white, straight Christians have taken for granted since the pilgrims first set foot on U.S. soil before we were a nation. They think the Civil Rights Act of 1964 should be repealed and there shouldn’t be any such thing as ‘gay’ rights.

This is (or at least it shouldn’t be) representative of America. That’s why I’m asking you to join our Facebook page – Give Back America!

According to the page:

Tired of hearing how white Christian members of the tea party are going to ‘take back America’? Who exactly are they taking it back from? The poor? People of Color? Members of the LGBT community? The U.S.A. is now and always has been an immigrant nation. We should not give absolute control to those who have enjoyed white privilege since their ancestors first stepped foot onto this land.

This country was founded on the premise there would be liberty and justice for all…not just the majority!

The time has come to “Give Back America”!

That’s right, give it back to the Native American people who were raped, diseased and murdered as their land was stolen. Give it back to those who are here because their ancestors were brought here by force to build a land of opportunity that’s only largely been accessible to White Christians. It’s time to give it back to our LGBT brothers and sisters who have been denied the right to marry, parent, hold a job or live where they choose because discriminatory laws, made by white Christians have legalized discrimination.

It’s time to give it back to the female population that stands for a woman’s right to choose.

It’s time to give this nation back to the people who have gone bankrupt or lost their home from becoming ill. This is the ONLY industrialized nation where that can even happen!

Taxation is NOT an issue in this country as the U.S. boast one of the lowest tax rates of any nation yet has one of the best infrastructures on the globe.

Join us in our campaign to “Give America Back”! Let’s all enjoy the benefit of living in a nation built on the concepts of equality and freedom of religion!

This is everyone’s country…Let’s give it back…Stop the HATE!

Taliban or Religious Right?

September 18, 2010

By J Stepper

I am going to ask a series of statements. See if you can determine which group each statement applies to.

1). This group wants to dominate women and tell them how to act. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

2). This group wants there to be a national religion, barring other religions from the country. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

3). This group wants prayer to be a prominent part of education. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

4). This group wants to dictate their morals to the rest of the population, with severe penalties for non-compliance. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

5). This group is not interested in freedom of speech. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

6). This group is not interested in freedom of religion. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

7). This group wants their “law” to be the law of the land, regardless of what the people might want. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

8). This group wants to convert the entire world into their way of thinking. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

9). This group thinks homosexuality is an abomination and should be eradicated from the face of the Earth. Taliban? Or Religious Right?

If you answered both to every one of these statements, then you are correct. As you can see, other than the country they are operating in, there is little, if any, difference between the two groups.

The Religious Right of days gone by, are the Tea Party of today. If the Tea Party, having taken over the GOP, (a dream they have had for decades), gets into power, this is the agenda they are going to pursue. Along with getting rid of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, and all of the safety nets that were put into place to keep people from ending up on the streets.

I have often said that there is little difference between the Christian Fundamentalist-Evangelicals and the Muslim Jihadist extremists. In my view, the only real difference is that the Christian clergy has not asked any of its members to strap on bombs to their bodies and blow themselves up in a crowded market. But in due time, that will happen and then we are going to be just as repulsed by the Fundamentalist Christians as we are with the radical Muslims.

Suffice it to say that I also get very agitated whenever I hear one of these religious fanatics put down gay people and talk about the “GAY AGENDA”. My question for them is: What about the Fundamentalist Christian agenda?” Yes, that very one that insists in converting everyone even if they have to kill them to do it…does the INQUISITION ring a bell?...how about the Christianization of the Americas by English, Spanish, French, Dutch and the Portuguese?
