Duliajan based five piece Shades of Retribution have arrivedand they’re here to re-establish your faith in old-school metal for good. Injust about two years, SOR have emerged as one of the most promising bands fromthe seven sisters. And while Xongram, their first full length album is a solidcollection of tunes that impress for the most part, to say that SOR just‘impress’ with this 8 track monster is a bit of an understatement. The bandgrabs it’s listener by the balls and commands attention. The influence of eightiesand nineties styled old school metal is spun into a scrumptiously obscure embroideryof sounds, tracing rich vocal abilities and fine layers of instrumentation.Major props also to Siddharth and Amitabh Barooa for the stellar production andarrangement. Undoubtedly one of the finest releases of the year and a must buyfor fans of old school death and thrash.
