Bosnia: Wahhabis protest detention of Arab suspects

Muslims, who in Bosnia generally practise a moderate form of Islam, comprise around 40 percent of the former Yugoslav republic's population of 3.8 million.

A telling sign that political Islam has come to Bosnia ~ the way the women wear the headscarf tied around the front of the neck ~ versus the way their parents and many other women in Europe would have worn them ~ this including the burqa has to be all new ~ and it says they want an Islamic state.

The Turkish Prime Minister's wife wears her headscarf in this fashion ~ as opposed to the way Turkish women traditionally wore the headscarf. She is an advert for political Islam.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) -- About 200 members of the Islamic Wahhabi movement gathered in front of the parliament building in Sarajevo on Saturday (March 12th) to protest the detention of seven Arabs suspected of posing a threat to national security. The suspects, who were arrested over the past few years, are being held in an immigrant centre near Sarajevo pending extradition to their home countries. Most of them arrived in BiH during the 1992-1995 war to join the Muslim troops. They have families in BiH and refuse to leave. BiH laws also prohibit the deportation of people to countries where they could face torture.
