Scott Walker, Wisconsin GOP, wavering under recall pressure
Right now, there are recall campaigns underway against both Democratic and Republican state senators in Wisconsin. As those campaigns develop, announcing strong signature totals is perhaps the best means of pressuring the targeted senators into caving. As such, it's interesting that while Democrats announced they have surpassed their signature goals so far, Republicans haven't said a word about how their efforts are going. Instead, Republican majority leader Scott Fitzgerald is publicly musing about ways he would like to see the laws regarding recalls changed. Talk about signaling weakness!
It gets better. Governor Scott Walker is now leaking emails to the press about a potential compromise on collective bargaining rights. It's not much of a compromise, and may be a bad-faith PR stunt, but it shows Walker is feeling enough heat to change his tune. Just five days ago, when the recall was starting, Walker was vowing no compromise whatsoever.
Wisconsin unions and Democrats are showing it's possible to fight hard enough to make Republicans waver. Your support of the recall effort is helping them do this. Please, contribute $5 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, which is the organizational hub for the recall effort. We have to keep piling on the pressure.
