Feminist Warns Against Wrong Reading of Biblical Texts on Women

(Christian Post) “If the language of the Bible is not understood in today’s terms, some passages can be used to allow excluding women from church leadership,” said Patricia Sheerattan-Bisnauth.

Head of the World Communion of Reformed Churches’ program for Gender Justice and Partnership, Sheerattan-Bisnauth pointed to biblical passages, such as 1 Corinthians 14: 33-34 where it says to keep women silent in church, that “can harm women when they are used to justify enforced submission of women to male authority.”

In the wake of International Women’s Day on Tuesday, WCRC is supporting an appeal from a Christian communication organization for increased attention on the effects of words and images used in the media against women. (Read more)

Note: The World Communion of Reformed Churches is in an ecumenical alliance with the World Council of Churches. The program that Sheerattan-Bisnauth heads up works to accomplish the U.N. Millennial Goals, in that part of its focus is on HIV/Aids and social justice. They plainly dishonor God by changing the truth of God into a lie.

Baptist World Congress Goals Reflect UN Millenniam Goals

The Baptist World Congress, which is the governing body for the Baptist World Alliance, approved some vision goals for their church organization. The Alliance is divided into six regional or geographical fellowships, with the American Baptist Church being the closest to the U.S. In 2004, the Southern Baptist Convention voted to withdraw from the Baptist World Alliance.

Famous North American pastors were Charles Spurgeon and John Bunyan. Famous members of this congregation have been Tony Campolo, Martin Luther King Jr, John D. Rockefeller, and Sen. Robert Byrd.

The Baptist World Alliance maintains ecumenical relations with the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. The Pontifical Council origins are associated with the 2nd Vatican Council established in 1960. 

The Pontifical Council has a twofold role:

• The promotion within the Catholic Church of an authentic ecumenical spirit according to the conciliar decree Unitatis Redintegratio;
• To develop dialogue and collaboration with the other Churches and World Communions.

Since its creation, it has also established a relationship of cooperation with the World Council of Churches (WCC). Wikidepia [1]

The Baptist World Alliance supports the values reflected in the UN Millennium Development Goals. Their statement says that:

Because the Spirit of the Lord is upon us, we have been anointed us to:

~ remove the scourge of poverty and hunger

~ support efforts to provide universal education

~ work for environmental sustainability

~ promote gender equality

~ improve child health and maternal health

~ combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases

Ecumenical Faith Leaders Warned On Statements About HIV And Aids

"The general secretary of the World Council of Churches, the Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit, told the meeting that faith leaders need to exercise care about the way they use statements from the Scriptures when dealing with HIV and AIDS.

"Language is very much a matter of ideology and power," said Tveit, a Norwegian theologian who took office as the head of the Geneva-based WCC in January. This means, "not only being accountable about what pieces of our faith texts we quote but how we use these texts".

In recent months church leaders in countries including Uganda and Malawi have supported criminal penalties being applied against homosexuals. AIDS campaigners warn this can mean people at risk from HIV being driven underground.

Tveit was part of an opening panel at the multi-faith meeting looking at how faith traditions promote work towards universal access to HIV treatment, care, support and prevention.

"This has to do with a basic issue of justice," said the WCC leader. Tveit recalled that back in 1987 the main governing body of the WCC had affirmed the "right to medical and pastoral care regardless of socio-economic status, race, sex, sexual orientation or sexual relationship". Hindus want World Council of Churches to organize global interfaith summit

Zed is an Interfaith Leader Award recipient, President of Universal Society of Hinduism, and Chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA), said that serious and honest interfaith dialogue was the need of the hour and the World Council of Churches, being one of the largest religious organizations of the world, should come forward in organizing one. Zed suggested that WCC should invite leaders of major world religions and denominations and initiate the dialogue, and after intensive deliberations, the leaders should come up with a concrete plan about common religious concerns like human improvement, peace, ecological responsibility, social & economic development, etc. Maybe this gathering could become an annual feature after that, Zed added. All of those objectives are based on the UN goals, which are shared by the WCC.

Glenn begins by talking about the way social justice has been made one of the missions of the church. This is all review, but now churches will be asked to get on-board with the green agenda measures (06:11 on counter) and immigration reform (08:20). Net neutrality reform will also be pushed on the Church to protect our children. All of these are a manifestation of living the Gospel.

"On the subject of immigration because I think the church is going to have to play a very major role in how we, how people are treated. The cardinals, the archbishops, the bishops that come to me and say we want you to pass immigration reform and I said but I want you to speak about it from the pulpit. I want you to instruct your, whatever the communication is — they — the people some oppose immigration reform are sitting in those pews and you have to tell them that this is a manifestation of our living the Gospels." The recommendation by Glenn's guest was what truly got me. It's amazing how he can speak the truth out of one side of his mouth, and manipulate and lie with the other. I could not find the interview, however his guest has been on before and is the writer of the book Glenn was weeping over last week. His guest suggested that Christians sign the Manhattan Declaration to stand on the principles our country was founded on. The Manhattan Declaration is nothing more than an interfaith scam document that attempts to bring faiths together in attempt to remove barriers and blend us as one; even though they are not truly Christian. It's the old bait and switch for Glenn.
