Better yet, why don’t we separate SOCIAL SECURITY completely from the government and make it a non-partisan, independent, people owned and administered entity?
But of course, that would not do…because the Wall Street types are salivating at the prospect of privatizing Social Security so they can conjure up some Ponzi scheme and run off with our retirement savings as they have done before.
What is the big broo-ha-ha about Social Security? It is solvent, it is the most successful of all government social safety nets and it has been around for almost three quarters of a century…so why try to fix it if it ain’t broken? It is a visceral hatred for the New Deal and anything that the Democrats have accomplished in the past decades…Social Security and Medicare in particular because they are successful and they put to shame the Republican-Teahadist ideology. It also invalidates Reagan’s crap “government is the problem” and “government can’t do anything right”…Republicans have been giving birth to collective cows since both of these programs went into effect.
I think that if we had control over Social Security and would only loan out our money to certain causes and for only certain reasons…like we would never consent on LOANING (loaning implies paying back) money to give tax cuts to the very wealthy or for fighting a stupid war. I tell you frankly, I would not mind if the Social Security funds were loaned out to improve education, improve roads, transportation infrastructure, clean energy development and even to help cash strapped states pay for crucial services.
Never should these funds be used to subsidize the coal and oil industry. Even less desirable is for that money to be used to fight a war in which our leaders lied to us to get us into it. I am all for keeping a ready and state of the art military but I don’t want those pampered generals to use our money to be playing war games as if it was tri-dimensional tic-tac-toe.
I don’t think it is right for Government to dip into the Social Security piggy bank to pay for their incompetence and the deficits their uncanny and misguided economic policies have caused. The Bush tax cuts for the rich for example have cost us dearly and now we have a serious debt problem. Penalizing Social Security just doesn’t make any sense and leaving in place all the mechanisms that created the economic crisis in the first place doesn’t make much sense either. Furthermore, because they want to benefit those who actually created the crisis Social Security has to be eliminated…nice going, Republicans…your ideology is as exciting as watching Julie Andrews take a douche.
