QUOTES I LIKE

I THINK THIS IS A GOOD MOMENT TO POST SOME QUOTES I THINK ARE OUTSTANDING

Abraham Lincoln said:

“I believe it is an established maxim in morals that he who makes an assertion without knowing whether it is true or false, is guilty of falsehood; and the accidental truth of the assertion, does not justify or excuse him.”
--August 11, 1846
Letter to Allen N. Ford

The quote above is particularly fitting today in view of all the half-truths and lies the Republicans have been dishing out. Ironically, this is the same Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln…do you think he would be turning in his grave if he saw what his Republican Party is doing?

Eleanor Roosevelt

“Ambition is pitiless. Any merit that it cannot use it finds despicable.”

“Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one.”

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

“Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent”

I particularly like the last one. It is very fitting in the case of the humiliation the ultra-right, conservative Evangelical Christians want to impart on gay Americana. But you know what? Ever since PRIDE has come into the picture those self-righteous, holier than thou assholes are recoiling with frustration because their guilt and their offensive attacks are no longer working.

Jawaharlal Nehru
“Crises and deadlocks when they occur have at least this advantage, that they force us to think.

“Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.”

“Democracy and socialism are means to an end, not the end itself.”

“Democracy is good. I say this because other systems are worse.”

“Every little thing counts in a crisis.

“Facts are facts and will not disappear on account of your likes.”

“Failure comes only when we forget our ideals and objectives and principles.

“Great causes and little men go ill together.”

“Ignorance is always afraid of change.”

“It is only too easy to make suggestions and later try to escape the consequences of what we say.

“It is the habit of every aggressor nation to claim that it is acting on the defensive.

“Let us be a little humble; let us think that the truth may not perhaps be entirely with us.”

“Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will.”

As the hypocritical GOP continues to lie, cheat, and steal for personal political power . . . . . the Republicans continue to pander to the lowest, basest, most vile prejudices of their know-nothing rightwing base.

For a party that supposedly loves the US Constitution, the GOP time and again ignores its provisions in order to advance their own political careers. Freedom of Religion means nothing to these rightwing slime bags, if it helps enervate their base supporters.

The GOP . . . . Just a sad, excuse for a political party.

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time,
and your government when it deserves it.
