Opera Mobile is over 100 million users

If Opera barely exceed 2% of the global market for browsers (but more than 5% in his native Norway) despite its innovative spirit, its mobile version has a better reception. The publisher has announced that Opera has surpassed 100 million mobile users around the world: 90.4 million using Opera Mini (particularly advantageous for devices with low bandwidth with compression on the fly web pages) and 15 million surfing on their phone with Opera Mobile. A particular success from the very early presence of Opera on the mobile market.

The 105 million mobile users at Opera Software can look to the future through the growth market of mobile telephony. "All the experts will give an appointment to say that the mobile web will overtake the PC, says Jon von Tetzchner, co-founder of Opera Software. Today we see this transition. And for the leader, "100 million marks the beginning of a new era for the Web."

New versions seen in Barcelona

The editor looks forward to keep the advantage by multiplying the Ports of its application on different platforms of the market, which is both a strength (the application is not subject to a mobile OS) and a disadvantage (there should be greater development and support accordingly.) Opera Software therefore benefit from the Mobile World Congress 2011 Barcelona (February 14 to 17) to present new versions of Opera Mini on Android, iPhone / iPad, J2ME, BlackBerry and Symbian (it rarely fails that HP Palm WebOS). Opera Mobile for its part will do its debut on the Android and Symbian environments in its new form.

"We want our browser has a significant influence on the uses, says Jon von Tetzchner. This is one reason why we use mainly renewable energy to power the servers of Opera Mini [loaded to compress the contents, Ed]. That's why we make it lighter, so you do not recharge your battery every few hours. This is why Opera Mini and Opera Mobile can help operators to reduce bandwidth and clutters their networks. A browser has perhaps never changed the world, but we never stop trying. "From intentions as beautiful as a new browser.
